SUMMARY:Intro to Cloud Computing: AWS & Azure
DESCRIPTION:This complimentary Cloud Computing seminar will provide a demonstration of both Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure. It will be delivered by Rafiq Wayani\, a Certified Microsoft and Oracle Trainer. No prior knowledge of Cloud Computing or either technology is necessary to benefit from this event. There will be an opportunity for Q&A at the end of the seminar\, so feel free to come with questions.\n\n \nAMAZON WEB SERVICES\n\nAmazon Web Services (AWS) provides on-demand computing resources and services in the cloud\, with pay-as-you-go pricing. For example\, you can run a server on AWS that you can log on to\, configure\, secure\, and run just as you would a server that's sitting in front of you.\n\nUsing AWS resources instead of your own is like purchasing electricity from a power company instead of running your own generator\, and it provides many of the same benefits: capacity exactly matches your need\, you pay only for what you use\, economies of scale result in lower costs\, and the service is provided by a vendor experienced in running large-scale networks.\n\nWhat Can I Do with AWS? \n\nYou can use AWS to make it easier to build and manage your websites and applications. The following are some common uses for AWS:\n\n\n	Store public or private data.\n	Host a static website. These websites use client-side technologies (such as HTML\, CSS\, and JavaScript) to display content that doesn't change frequently. A static website doesn't require server-side technologies (such as PHP and ASP.NET).\n	Host a dynamic website\, or web app. These websites include classic three-tier applications\, with web\, application\, and database tiers.\n	Support students or online training programs.\n	Process business and scientific data.\n	Handle peak loads.\n\n\nMICROSOFT AZURE\n\nMicrosoft Azure is Microsoft's application platform for the public cloud. The goal of this article is to give you a foundation for understanding the fundamentals of Azure\, even if you don't know anything about cloud computing.\n\nThe Components of Azure \n\nAzure groups services into categories in the Management Portal and on various visual aids. The Management Portal is what you use to manage most services in Azure.\n\nDuring the seminar\, we will use a different organization to talk about services based on similar function\, and to call out important sub-services that a part of larger ones.\n\nMicrosoft has invested heavily in Windows Azure over the past few years. Six data centers across three continents have been developed to serve millions of customers. They have been built with an optimized power efficiency mechanism\, self-cooling containers\, and hardware homogeneity\, which differentiates them from other data centers.
