IT Database Administrator
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor the performance and security of Microsoft SQL Server databases.
- Tune databases to ensure efficient operation and response times.
- Optimize existing data queries and stored procedures.
- Assist with building and maintaining Tria’s data warehouse.
- Create, manage, and optimize indexes to improve query performance.
- Develop and implement backup and recovery plans for databases.
- Collaborate with the Software Development team on DBMS selection and establish best practices for usage.
- Provide training and resources for the Development team on SQL Server optimization techniques.
- Perform regular database maintenance tasks including updates and patches.
- Analyze and resolve complex database-related issues.
- Research and integrate new DBA tooling where applicable and cost-effective.
- Collaborates with fellow IT team members to isolate and resolve technical issues, but also skilled enough to identify, research, and resolve technical issues independently – all in a timely manner.
- Looking for continuous improvement opportunities and promoting innovation.
- Communicates with stakeholders on a regular basis and upholds the standards of any published IT SLA (service level agreement) documentation.

Knowledge and Skills:
- Proven experience as a DBA, with a focus on Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud-based and on-premises Microsoft SQL database environment required.
- Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
- Experience in performance tuning and optimization of SQL databases.
- Proficiency in T-SQL and SQL query writing.
- Knowledge of database backup, recovery, and security protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills to teach and collaborate with the software development team.
- Experience with database administration of non-Microsoft SQL databases (e.g., NoSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL) is a plus.
- Experience in administration of other data-driven infrastructure such as MQ, BPMS, and caching is a plus.
- Experience with Redgate Test Data Manager (TDM) is a plus.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent work experience.
- 1+ years of relevant work experience as a DBA.
- Experience as a software application developer is a plus.
- In addition to either of the education/experience classifications above, Microsoft SQL certification, or similar certification, is a plus.
