Startup Seminar: Section 230 and Your Startup
From the spread of misinformation that fueled violence at the Capitol earlier this year, to the removal of prominent figures on the largest social networking sites, Section 230 has been in the news a lot lately. But that coverage has only focused on how the law impacts the largest of internet companies, not startups, which also benefit from the liability framework created by Section 230.
Join Engine on February 17th at 4pm where, together with an expert panel, we will explore the utility of Section 230 for startups, the risks posed by a policy environment without the liability framework, and how startups can get involved to ensure continued commonsense legal frameworks to govern user-generated content and the startup ecosystem.
The panel will be moderated by Engine Executive Director Kate Tummarello. Panelists will include:
- Angela Hooks, Public Policy Manager, Dropbox
- Eric Goldman, Associate Dean for Research and Professor of Law, Santa Clara University School of Law
- Jayme White, Chief Advisor on International Competitiveness and Innovation, U.S. Senate Committee on Finance
The event will begin at 4 p.m. on Zoom. You will receive an email with the Zoom link and joining information.
