The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) has an exciting opportunity for a seasoned Business Analyst to join our Information Technology team. We are looking for a team member who enjoys working for an organization that strives every day to support the public good and make a difference. This position is located in the NAIC’s Town Pavilion Office, located in the heart of downtown Kansas City.

 Responsibilities include:

  • Helps business owners understand their true needs while analyzing and assessing the impact of those needs.  

  • Leads conversations with stakeholders at all levels and articulates key decisions regarding needs, goals, and potential risks. 

  • Facilitates communication and works collaboratively with the entire development team, including business owners, developers, quality assurance, and others, to build and foster cohesive relationships.  

  • Leads story mapping efforts to analyze and translate business and technical needs; creates user stories and requirements the entire team will understand.  

  • Contributes to sizing of work items for development of enhancements/fixes. 

  • Coordinates and leads walk-throughs or reviews of products and process flows. 

  • Develops and presents prototypes. 

  • Documents user stories, acceptance criteria, and requirements in accordance with team best practices. 

  • Verifies that applications meet customer needs. 

  • Fosters proactive and open communication with team, peers, and business partners. 

  • Demonstrates and champions an agile mindset. 

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Excellent ability to elicit, analyze, validate, and document requirements through story mapping, interviews, observation, facilitation, and other proven business analysis techniques and industry best practices. 

  • Comfortable making suggestions to improve processes; willing to hold team accountable, while assessing impact on team performance, efficiency, and morale.   

  • Ability to lead and influence others in variety of settings, including both formal and informal meetings. 

  • Ability to learn new applications quickly. 

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication. 

  • Excellent organizational and detailed orientation skills. 

  • Experience with Agile/Scrum. 

  • Experience with Cloud technologies and Tableau preferred. 

Minimum Education and/or experience required:

Bachelor’s degree (BA) from a four-year college or university and five years’  experience as a Business Analyst or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Must have experience with all phases of the development life cycle.  Must have experience as a Business Analyst with Agile/Scrum. Experience in Microsoft Office products.
