The goal of Playfair Data’s internship program is to identify and develop extraordinary raw talent; leaders and visionaries who will use data to change the world. Our interns contribute to the design and engineering of the visual analytics tools created across our diverse portfolio of clients, while developing technical, tactical, and other skills that will accelerate their success.

Internship Specifics
As an intern on the visual analytics track, you’ll jump right in on a data visualization project for a client or internal initiative. You’ll gain experience in strategic planning, data visualization tools, and internal collaboration. You’ll learn what it takes to transform an idea into a dashboard. Specifically, you will:
- Complete a portfolio project to present to the team at the end of your internship term
- Collaborate with team members on timely and relevant projects that may either be client related or Playfair Data related
- Shadow Playfair Data team members to learn about the holistic process from gathering requirements to implementation
- Contribute to Playfair Data’s Tableau Public assets and/or blog
Candidate Description
You are a naturally curious person with an analytical mind and a creative streak. You use data in your day-to-day: think grade tracking, fitness stats, or savings goal spreadsheets.
Criteria/Details
- Open to undergraduate and graduate students (working toward a degree in Business, IT, or Analytics) or persons with an existing degree enrolled in or who have completed a related certification or non-degree program
- Undergraduate student applicants must in their senior year and within six months of graduation
- Available to international students with existing work authorization
- 250 total hours, worked in a flexible, part time capacity, over 10-12 weeks
- Compensation of $15 per hour
- Primarily remote, but some in-person meetings may be required
Required/Desired Skills
• Basic understanding of data visualization and design
• Understanding of basic data structures and types of data
• Completed coursework in data visualization or analytics
• Experience in Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, or any other data visualization software is a plus
• Experience with Tableau Prep or like data engineering tools (i.e. SQL, Alteryx, etc.) is a plus
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and G-Suite products (i.e. Gmail, Google Drive, etc.) is preferred
Additionally, Interns Must
• Be reliable, responsive, and conduct themselves in a professional manner
• Demonstrate a commitment to timeliness
• Possess good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, and be able to interact with a wide variety of personality types, across a variety of communication channels
• Possess excellent problem solving, critical thinking, quality assurance, and analytical skills
• Pay careful attention to detail, maintain accuracy and focus while working with data
• Be discreet and able to maintain strict client and company confidentiality
• Have the ability to use a computer keyboard and be able to tolerate repetitive motion and eye strain resulting from extensive utilization of computer hardware and software
