Volunteer Host for Olathe Public Schools Computer Science Academy – Internships & Projects (2025–2026 School Year)
Overview:
Olathe Public Schools’ Computer Science Academy is seeking local businesses and community organizations to provide real-world learning experiences for high school seniors. As a volunteer partner, you’ll help students apply their computer science skills through internships or short-term, client-centered projects during the 2025–2026 school year.
Volunteer Opportunities:

Host an Intern – Work directly with a student (or students) on meaningful, hands-on projects aligned with their skills.

Lead a Client-Centered Project (CCP) – Provide a real challenge or need from your organization for students to solve collaboratively.
Examples of Past Projects:

Building a custom database or website
-
Creating dashboards or automating manual processes

Developing an app prototype or user interface

Conducting cybersecurity assessments or user testing
Schedule:
-
Students are available during their 7th hour (1:15–2:40 PM) and may also work outside school hours depending on your needs and their availability.

Opportunities can be offered in the fall semester, spring semester, or both.
Volunteer Requirements:

Provide mentorship and guidance aligned to students’ computer science learning.

Be willing to collaborate with school staff on scheduling, project scope, and expectations.

Optional: interview students before placement.
